Structural Reports

The following are examples of fields of structural investigation and reporting that we can undertake.

  • Structural surveys – we undertake structural surveys for domestic and commercial properties, with particular emphasis on major structural faults. We comment upon the overall stability of structures, particularly if alterations have been undertaken. Before purchasing a property or structure, it is very important to have a survey undertaken by an expert. There are many defects which may not be apparent to a lay person, but which a Structural Engineer's trained eye may observe. Purchasing a property is, for many people, the largest investment they will ever make and the cost of a survey is money well spent relative to the purchase price and potential cost of remedial works. Many surveys are undertaken following structural issues highlighted by a building society survey. We do carry out full structural surveys ourselves. We initially undertake a visual inspection of superstructure, including detailed inspection of all accessible areas which can often give an insight into the standard of construction. Following the initial survey, this is often extended to opening up structure, sub-floors, cavities etc., and together with a trial hole or borehole investigation we can obtain more in-depth knowledge of the condition and form of the structure and foundation construction

  • We undertake inspection of drainage systems and can arrange for CCTV surveys to be undertaken for connecting pipework. Defective drainage is one of the most common causes of subsidence in foundations.
