Serious dry rot was discovered in one of these houses for which extensive structural works, together with specialist timber treatment and treatment to masonry was undertaken. We provided structural design services for assessing and repairing existing timbers and producing designs to enable floor joists and main structural members to be isolated from the walls for future protection against rot.

We also provided design for significant strengthening to roof structures for all three of the properties requiring dealing with historic roof timbers and specifying traditional methods of construction.

We designed and detailed temporary works for the contractor to enable extensive areas of timber to be removed from masonry walls as they were affected by the dry rot. This involved propping, pinning, and scaffold shoring, together with Method Statements clearly defining sequences and methods of work.
