Type: Residential Extension Location: Dartmoor, Devon

This was formally a detached bungalow situated on the edge of Dartmoor requiring substantial renovation and updating, together with extending to meet modern requirements for a property in such a prime location. It was decided to introduce another story on top of the existing building with a substantial amount of glazing, necessitated well thought out structural design.

The roof structure was vaulted for aesthetics which required structural design to integrate with the proposed architectural features of the building to achieve clean lines.

Substantial areas of glazing required stability calculations to be undertaken and for structural framing to be introduced to ensure the building can safely withstand wind loading.
