Reservoir Development

Type: Residential Development – Conversion to Luxury Houses Location: Peak Hill Reservoir, Sidmouth, South Devon

This is a high profile residential development of 5 houses constructed in and around Peak Hill Reservoir. 3 of the houses are constructed with the lower ground floor inside the reservoir, utilising the existing structure. Part of the reservoir roof was removed to form an open courtyard for light to the lower ground floor and underground car parking was provided in a section of the reservoir. Stability of surrounding retaining walls and support to structure above the reservoir required careful consideration.

The underground car park required removal of a number of columns supporting the reservoir roof. A reinforced concrete flat slab was constructed over the top of the reservoir to support original beams where columns were removed.

This project required a high level of engineering input throughout to achieve the required quality of the development.
